ABOUT SILVIA

Sculpture,  monotypes  &  etchings

ABOUT

I was born in Barcelona.

At the age of 15 I lived for some time in London, where I discovered sculptors as David Smith and Henry Gaudier-Brezska.

My life intended towards the sculpture, the engraving, the drawing and the painting.

In Australia I received career education of sculpture in the Sydney's Sculpture School and began to work the stone.

A few years later, in Granada and Seville, gypsy blacksmiths masters of forge contributed all their knowledge and part of their culture. There was where I learned the technology of the forge and began the linear creations of wrought iron.

I spent a part of my life in Paris. At that time I began in the engraving on metal, with which my universe was extended leading me to complementary ways of expression.

For creative affinity I coincided with an english group, Mutoid Waste Company, where Joe Rush proposed me to join them to work in the creation of sculptures with recycling material, beside producing spectacles and performances.

This stage continues later in Barcelona, where I install my workshop and do my work in wood and iron sculptures, etchings and monotypes.

Up to today.
